From afar it can be really difficult to gauge the situation on the ground. I found this really helpful as it went through all the different political forces involved and gave an in depth picture of the scope of the revolt in Chile. Fantastic podcast, would highly recommend for anyone trying to get to grips with the movement against neoliberalism sweeping South America right now.

The first half of the show is really useful in setting the context for today’s rebellion. The 1973 coup; how different classes fared under the dictatorship; how mass politics recovered over the following decades. The second part on the current events is riveting. The different organised forces students and workers; how the middle class and upper class are reacting; the lasting changes to Chilean society brought by the rebellion.
